2015 North West Regional Gasshuku

Sensei Mirko Buchwald and assembled students at the 2015 Northwest Regional Gasshuku

Myself and a couple of WTF Students were privileged to attend the 2015 IOGKF Regional Gasshuku held in Lewiston, Idaho.

Over the weekend Sensei Mirko Buchwald (5th Dan) lead sessions on Basic Training, Kakia Bunkia, Kumite Drills and Concepts. Sensei Brent Hartwig (6th Dan) led a session on Knife Defense. Sensei Andy Franz (4th Dan) led a session of making basic bunkai work against opponents who are much larger or smaller. A session with Professor Derek Cleveland (BJJ Black Belt) presented an excellent session on basic jiu-jitsu fundamental and tactics.

Kyu-grade students were privileged to participate in a session led by IOGKF USA Chief Instructor Sensei Gene Villa (7th Dan).

An exhausting and inspiring weekend of training with phenomenal martial artists.

Our thanks to Sensei Steven Smith (4th Dan) of Valley Karate & Jiu-Jitsu in Lewiston for hosting this event.
